Juan A. Murillo, P.E.

Juan A. Murillo has over 45 years of experience in civil engineering design and construction, with vast experience in the design and construction of roads and bridges. He pioneered the development of segmental and cable-stayed bridges as well as other major bridge and highway structures in the USA and around the World. The more iconic projects that he has been involved with are, the SUNSHINE SKYWAY cable-stayed bridge and segmental approaches in Tampa/Saint Petersburg Florida as well as the segmental bridges in the Florida Keys as the Assistant Technical Director of Figg & Muller Engineering; the Seismic Retrofit of the Golden State Bridge in San Francisco California and the Jamuna Bridge in Bangladesh  as the Technical Director of T Y Lin International; The Baldwin Bridge along I-95 in Connecticut, Spaghetti Bowl in Las Vegas Nevada, DFW Connector and Horseshoe Projects in Dallas Texas, and the soon to be completed Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project over the Port of Long Beach California which is the first Caltrans Cable Stayed Bridge as the Technical Director for Major Bridges for Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Juan Murillo is also the author of articles and books, on topics of Engineering and Technological innovation. His works have been published in the USA by Wiley Interscience and the National Academy of Sciences Press. Additionally, Juan appeared on the cover and in several articles of the US Engineering News Records (ENR). 

Juan was awarded the US presidential medal in 1985 for innovations in engineering, he received the “Pioneering Award” for technical excellence in 2004, and the Hispanic leader in Technology in 2005.
